After being off the bike for just about two years while waiting for, and recovering from, a knee reconstruction, DJ is now back riding and he’s definitely killing it. This edit, commissioned by Focalpoint and Animal, has some serious moves in it. DJ also recently won a decent sum of cash at Colony’s King of the jibs comp that I forgot to post about.

Focalpoint in Hi-Def

Cooper recently bought a Canon 7D camera to use when filming stuff for Focalpoint, taking advantage of the excellent HD quality that we have seen in many places on the web so far. Being a Nikon shooter myself, I’m happy to know that Cooper will stick to his trusty Nikon for shooting stills, the 7D is only for video use.

Here’s the first edit using footage from the 7D. Looks solid. Can’t wait for another feature DVD or full length web edit!

Phototech

Cooper’s got a new feature series called ‘Phototech’ up on the Focalpoint site. As the name implies it’s like a photography school of sorts. Should be useful for all you aspiring photographers out there — or for anyone who just wants an insight into the makings of a good photo.

The second instalment that covers ‘Depth of field’ is up now. Go check it out!

The 20th issue of the Focalpoint print mag is now ready from the printers. Go pick up your copy, I’m sure you know where to get one. If not, hit up Coops and he’ll let you know where to get a copy! And yes — the mag is FREE!

Here’s what’s in the mag, copypaste from the FP site:

This issue features Chris Harti on the cover doing on serious braaaaap! There is a boatload of content, as always, including a ‘Behind The Photo’ with Canberra’s Raine Turnbull and Troy Jackson talks about coming back to riding after 18 months off with injury. We look into Nick Gascoine’s NAHYOURITEMATE project, talk to two young shredders named Jack Kelly and Jake Deering, and Dave Rubinich gives a quick rundown of the United Oz roadtrip. We also caught up with Leon Sablinskis and Beau Maslen, who both had interviews back in Issue One to see what they are doing seven years on. Then there are the usual Jams from across the country with a wrap up of the amazing night that was Cam’s Jam and a park-influenced photo project went down! There’s all this and a bunch of other random stuff and it’s free!

Polly aka. Paul Cooper (green tee and S&M bike) used to be a flatlander.
He also lives in Frankston, which is one of the more sketchy areas of Melbourne (or so I have been told). This is a day edit from the Frankston park together with his mate Boekel.

TripleSix Roadtrip

I just read on the Focalpoint website that Australian BMX distributor TripleSix (Tempered, Fly, Subrosa etc…) will take a rather large group of guys for a roadtrip starting at the end of March. Here’s a quick copy & paste of the info I saw on FP:

Triplesix are proud to announce our 2010 roadtrip from Melbourne to Brisbane starting on the 26th of march(next friday) to the 5th of April. We are taking 12–13 guys along for the ride from the Aus Triplesix riders as well as special guests Ryan Sher (Shadow Conspiracy/Subrosa) and Hoang Tran (Subrosa) both from the USA. We will be hitting shops along the way and stopping at parks to hang and ride with anyone that is keen to have a roll around with us.
