Focalpoint in Hi-Def

Posted: August 9th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: BMX, Video | Tags: , , , | Comments Off

Cooper recently bought a Canon 7D camera to use when filming stuff for Focalpoint, taking advantage of the excellent HD quality that we have seen in many places on the web so far. Being a Nikon shooter myself, I’m happy to know that Cooper will stick to his trusty Nikon for shooting stills, the 7D is only for video use.

Here’s the first edit using footage from the 7D. Looks solid. Can’t wait for another feature DVD or full length web edit!

(Don’t forget to enable HD for the video player in case it’s disabled)

Cooper recently started riding and working for Colony. This is his slightly late welcome to the team edit. Good dude, good riding, good times. Cooper is great!

Cooper Brownlee of Focalpoint Magazine has a new site up — One Love, One Life, which is a combined photo blog and portfolio. Good thing to have since photography is an integral part of his professional career. On the site there are photos not just of BMX, and the blog section tells you a little about each photo and the background for it. Interesting indeed!

Cooper also recently got a Shooter feature on the Dig BMX site. Check it out for some good words from one of the most BMX-dedicated people in the world.

Rainy day

Posted: September 27th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: BMX, Video | Tags: , , , , , | Comments Off

Some of the Focalpoint guys avoided the rain yesterday by hitting up some of their undercover spots. Here’s the edit to show that they didn’t just sit on their asses like I did, although I did go shopping for some shoes, so I’m not entirely lazy.

Focalpoint issue 16 is out!

Posted: March 18th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: BMX | Tags: , , | Comments Off

Cooper just got stacks of boxes filled with the new print issue of FocalpointBMX Magazine. It’s now up to issue 17 and it’s apparently the biggest one to date at a massive 92 pages! It’s full of good content such as interviews, bios, reports and great photos of riding from all around Australia. This is the second time I’m featured in the magazine, this time I’ve got an interview about BMX product design. Happy about that for sure!

Here’s what Cooper wrote about what’s in the mag:

Issue 16 is biggest issue of FocalpointBMX yet! I am so stoked with how this issue came out. It clocks in at a banging 92 pages, with plenty of rider bios, interviews and road trip stories to keep you entertained.
This time around FP interviewed Jimmy Rostlund about product design, young NSW South Coast ripper Jadan Roxburgh and all around shredder Nick Kajewski. Dinny Spicer gave us some insight into the ins and outs of the Fbmx organization and Dwayne Germain from Adelaide scores an interview about his sweet street styles. There is a massive article on the positives of BMX, featuring interviews with riders from all walks of the BMX lifestyle. Dialed photographer, Nitai, gives us a look into his world of photography. Add to that a trip FP took to Tassie and there is plenty there to keep you going!

Once again, a big thanks to all the contributors and supporters – we couldn’t have done it without you. As for the cover, well, I feel it’s a fitting tribute to Nathan Charles, a good friend to many: gone but definitely not forgotten…

A couple of days ago I mentioned a little overhaul of this blog. And I’m not the only one making updates for 2009, Cooper over at Focalpoint has put in countless hours updating the site and it’s a major improvement. More content, a sweet look and constant (almost) news updates. Go check it out!

Cooper Brownlee!

Good friend, Focalpoint chief mofo in charge and freecoaster fantastic Cooper Brownlee has got a webvideopart up on WeThePeople’s videorama section of their site. It’s really good. That backwards roll to full-cab is amazing. I was there the day he pulled it but had to split before it got done. Would have been good to see in real life.

I know this one is a few days old, but what the hell. I’ve had website problems.
