Tempered Bikes recently released a flipbook showcasing some upcoming products. Definitely a high quality production with some really nice riding shots mixed in. Be sure to take an extra good look at the Anchor Down sprocket.
Not many companies make trails specific frames anymore, which is kind of a shame because everyone doesn’t want their seat in the tyre and a front triangle you can’t put your fist through.
FBM just released a flipbook showing their new frame, the Steadfast. Trails specific geo and design with a bit more mellow headtube angle at 74° and a rear end that’s longer than 13.75″ slammed. Flipping through the flipbook I came to the conclusion that it looks flippin’ good.
Dishonour is an Adelaide based clothing brand that do tees, hoodies and hats. They’ve got a good thing going by only doing one single run of each print. Keeping it limited edition, I dig that. Their designs are fresh and well worth a look. I’ve taken the liberty of putting some examples below.
Another Interbike has passed and I was not there — again. I probably didn’t miss too much, judging from the pics that have been posted. One thing though… was there only one dude there with a camera? I seem to almost exclusively have seen the photos Kurt from BMXunion has on his site re-posted everywhere.
Nightfall Bike Co. based up in Cairns, Australia have got some frames out. Some time ago I helped these guys out with some manufacturing drawings for a stem and a sprocket they designed. Frames look pretty dialled. I couldn’t find any specs, but if you’re interested I suggest that you hit up their blog.
Here are some “spy shots” straight off the factory production line of some of the new Simple products that will be out shortly. Not all of them are new products, but most of them have been refined from the previous batch. The biggest change would probably be on the System-stem which has received a total makeover.
Excuse the photo quality, real product shots will be up on the Simple site shortly.
The other day I got sent a link to this german site called Leichtsinn, which is a weight-weenie site mostly dedicated to bmx products. The main story on there now features a modified version of the Simple stem, the System. He’s done a really good job of it and it looks way more tech and way less “simple”. It’s cool to see anyway and I hope it works well in it’s modified state.
The fact of the matter is that during the design stages of that stem I actually had a version that had just about those exact same cutouts, but we decided to go for the more clean, straight forward look.
Just found this photo and figured I’d share it filed in the funny section.
Look closely and you’ll see an almost perfect imprint of the sidewall text in the dust of the rim.
The way it happened was that a friend was riding this bank-to-wall setup and was doing wallride 180’s. He was running fairly low pressure in the tyre at the time and when he landed sideways on one occasion it just folded over the rim. It did not pop off or explode, he didn’t even get a pinch flat. Pretty crazy thing!
