Cherry Red EZ

Built myself a new bike.

Included as many parts I’ve designed/drawn myself as possible. Next time maybe the whole bike will be ‘mine’.

Simple Bikes | EZ Frame

Posted: November 3rd, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: BMX, Product | Tags: , , | Comments Off

I’m a bit late on posting this one, but here are some more detailed shots of the EZ frame, Eduards Zunda signature, that will be released in early 2011. I’ve worked on this frame together with Simple and Ed for quite a while.

Being Ed’s signature frame, it has of course been tailored to his specifications as far as geometry and general appearance goes, and we’ve added some refinements over previous frames we’ve made.

The frame features removable brakemounts, integrated gussets in HT/DT/TT junction. The dropouts and chainstay/seatstay caps are made of one piece of steel which adds clearance for a hubguard on the inside of the dropouts as well as giving a nice look to it. CS & SS are tapered and the seattube tapers down to a smaller diameter where it meets the new Mid BB that we opted for instead of the Spanish BB that we have been running in the past.

The geometry is as follows:

  • Toptube | 20.6″, 20.9″ or 21.2″
  • Headtube | 75˚
  • Seattube | 70˚
  • Chainstay length | 13.6″ (345mm) center to center
  • BB height | 1.6″ over axle center/center line (approximately equates to 11.6″ depending on fork/headset/tyre setup.)

Childstore Babyman Bars

So, I helped my friends at Childstore to design a handlebar. It’s a pretty straight forward, rather big set of bars. Just like the kids like it!

The video promo is in Swedish, but the specs are universal:

Rise | 8.5″ (216mm)
Width | 28″ (712mm)
Backsweep | 11°
Upsweep |

Other | It’s got 9 butts and a decent sized box and it should weigh in at around 690 grams, give or take.

EZ frame by Simple

Here’s a first look at Eduards Zunda’s signature frame from Simple Bikes. It’s a pretty straight forward frame. The main thing that’s a bit different is the dropouts where the chain stay and seat stay end caps are one piece with the dropout instead of welded on separately. It gives a rather clean look and the way it is welded also leaves a lot of clearance on the inside of the dropouts for running hub guards and whatnot.

Bike d’PomPom

Pompom is one of the nicest dudes I have ever met. We got to hang out a few years back when I went to Toulouse, France to ride at the La Source trails jam. We didn’t really talk that much due to the language barrier but I still managed to come to the conclusion that he’s a top bloke. That must say something.

Either way, Pompom’s been riding for Deluxe for quite a while now and they recently posted a shot of his new bike. Looks like a pretty sweet ride.

Will only post half the pic here, so go to the Deluxe website if you want to see the whole thing. In the post there’s also a nice photo of some riding at the Dagger trails. Check it out!

Here’s also Pompom’s latest vimeo clip. Some riding from La Source.

Tempered Bikes | Bones Stem TL

This has been in the works for some time and the samples just arrived. It’s the top loading version of the previously shown Bones front loading stem from Tempered Bikes.
Again, I’m very impressed with the finish of the product. Can’t wait to see these hit the store shelves and online shops later on!

A little piece of history

Came across these photos when looking through my photo library. Sure is a long time ago that I made the first prototypes of the Eject hub. The first one was finished on the 25th of September in 2005 and I had the first wheel built up a few days later. Sweet!

Defgrip Tees

Defgrip is a rad site. They always have some nice feature up. Sometimes BMX, sometimes design, sometimes photography and occasionally even other things.
If you for some reason have missed that they have a store with some tees, then check it out now. I ordered one of those Quilted tees the other day. You can never have too many tees.

Tempered product update

Tempered Bikes are showing some new products on their site. The hard goods will be dropping soon with the 2010 release and the Electric Tee will also drop soon. Everything looks dialled and I believe it will all be a hit when it reaches the stores. That sprocket sure is something different design wise.
