Render showreel thing

Since I’m a geek of big proportions, I just could not stay away from getting the new iPhone 4. I downloaded the iMovie app and tried it out. Since I have not yet had a chance to record some real video, I just made a little presentation with some images I had stored on the phone.

Sticker Chaos

Been slacking a bit with the desktop backgrounds. Seems I don’t change mine up all to often after all. Played around a bit and completed this one. Maybe one or two of you who read this will find it interesting.

See below for a preview, 1920 x 1200px version available for download in the downloads section.

Computer Assisted Design

Here’s a funny video I found on the web somewhere (duhh YouTube!). It’s a music video about CAD. How great is that?

iPhone Compatibility

I just found, and installed it here on the blog, this plugin called WPtouch in the WordPress plugin directory. What it does is that it make the page recognize if you’re on a mobile phone, such as the iPhone, and swithces the theme to something that looks more like an iPhone interface. Making it a lot easier to navigate while using the handheld device. See screenshots below:

[Note: If you’re on a normal computer you won’t see this change.]

3D Bokeh

Bokeh is the word for the blurry areas in a photo with a short depth of field. Here is another rendering I made where I wanted to see how it turned out with really short depth of field (or a lot of bokeh).

Click the long thumbnail for a preview. If you happen to want a bigger size, click here: 1440 x 900px
On the big size you can actually see the “Simple Bike Co.” text on the bearing seal.

Diftype update

My buddy Niklas over at Diftype has launched a new style portfolio. He recently had a tutorial published in the printed magazine Computer Arts (Issue #166), which makes me want to go buy the issue so I can check it out.

If you like his work you will find that most of the designs in the portfolio are available for purchase as different sized prints. And I’m sure he’ll be all ears if anyone is interested in hiring him for some freelance work.

This is a triptych that I bought recently and that will be framed or mounted and later put on a wall in the house that I will live in shortly.

New page — Downloads

Posted: September 2nd, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Design | Tags: , , | Comments Off

Since I’ve posted couple of downloadable desktop backgrounds over the years I decided it would be a good idea to have them all in the same place. I’ll also probably post other stuff on that page in the future. But for now you’ll have to settle with three different backgrounds that I’ve created in the past.

Check it out here.

Desktop Thursday

In the conference room at the place where I work there’s this really cool old mouse pad. Very retro.
The other day I got the idea that it could make a good desktop background for the computer. If you like the worn out look, then this might be for you.

Right click and save — 1440 x 900
(If you ask nicely I might make some other sizes too)

Made another rendering of the tricycle posted a couple of days ago. On this one you can see the “Simple Bike Co” text more clearly and the nice wood grain shows up better.
