Tobias Wicke is a machine on the bike. I remember the first time I saw him ride at the BMX Worlds in Cologne and he was killing himself trying a bottomside 5050 on top of the huge wallride. Crazy dude.
Pompom is one of the nicest dudes I have ever met. We got to hang out a few years back when I went to Toulouse, France to ride at the La Source trails jam. We didn’t really talk that much due to the language barrier but I still managed to come to the conclusion that he’s a top bloke. That must say something.
Either way, Pompom’s been riding for Deluxe for quite a while now and they recently posted a shot of his new bike. Looks like a pretty sweet ride.
Will only post half the pic here, so go to the Deluxe website if you want to see the whole thing. In the post there’s also a nice photo of some riding at the Dagger trails. Check it out!
Here’s also Pompom’s latest vimeo clip. Some riding from La Source.
This guy is a legend. Glad to finally see some footage of him, he’s been very underground in the past couple of years. I definitely enjoyed this interview. He really seems to have a his head screwed on straight.
Trail slaying style cat Dean Manson has a new edit out courtesy of Sputnic and Connections. Dean rode the bike, Flagz held the camera and edited the footage to some classic Iron Maiden.
A new Melbourne based BMX store opened today. It’s called Riding Way and it’s founded by long time rider Stephen Taylor-Madin, to some better known as Gorak.
The first 50 riders who signed up for the online store received a lifetime 5% discount, that’s a pretty sweet deal and I’m sure the kids who were quick enough will fully enjoy their discounts. Also, Riding Way will donate a part of all future profits to local charity that will help out the less fortunate in society. I think this is a very admirable approach. I definitely wish Gorak and Riding Way the best of luck in this new endeavour.
On a side note, one of the team riders is Adam Stone, of whom I posted an edit a while back. Adam has recently had knee surgery due to a blown out ACL (I think it was), all too common in BMX sadly enough. Good luck with the recovery buddy!
Now go check out the Riding Way site and online store!
Raine Turnbull is a talented BMX photographer who is holding an all trails photo exhibition dubbed ‘Into the Woods’ this Saturday at Western Creek Scout Hall in Dillon Close, Canberra. I have no idea where this place is, but it’s probably somewhat close to a skatepark because a jam is being held there as well. The jam starts at 3pm and the exhibition opens its doors at 5pm.
As it happens, the event is also sponsored by Backbone BMX. Good to see that kind of support for the scene and its riders.
